Have Grand Jury Duty but if I don't work I can't pay rent!?

I got selected for Grand Jury Duty, I'm supposed to serve for 2 weeks. But I only have $600 to live on, I am self employed and need to work. Once I pay my rent, I won't even have enough money to eat, or to cover the transportation costs for those two weeks. The warden has referred me to another office and they say the alternates aren't available and are refusing to take it any further. This is Kings county new york. Who can I appeal to?
