How much can I get in trouble if I miss my safety training?

I work in an office as a financial analyst. Somehow I was put in charge and am a fire warden for my floor; and have been for the past 5 years. This year I apparently have to go for safety training...this is the first I've ever heard of this. Some of my co-workers are joking about me "forgetting" to go...I started laughing, then I thought....what if I did miss the training, could I actually get in trouble for it? I mean, we're all adults, shouldn't we all know by now to not use elevators and use the stairs?
